Miroslaw J. Skibniewski is a Professor of Construction Engineering and Project Management in the Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland. He is also a former Professor, Dean of International Programs and Associate Provost at Purdue University. Between August 2010 and December 2011, he served as the Founding Dean of Engineering at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Skibniewski is the Editor-in-Chief of Automation in Construction, an international research journal published by Elsevier, and Co-Editor in Chief of Frontiers of Engineering Management published by Springer. Among Prof. Skibniewski's past honors are the U.S. Presidential Young Investigator (later renamed as CAREER) Award, American Society of Civil Engineers Walter L. Huber Research Prize, and the Tucker-Hasegawa Research Award from the International Association of Automation and Robotics in Construction, Doctorate Honoris Causa at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, elected Foreign Membership of the Russian Academy of Engineering, elected Membership of the Academy of Engineering in Poland, Visiting Distinguished Fellowship of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, and an elected membership of the U.S. National Academy of Construction. He served as the A. James Clark Chair Professorship at the University of Maryland, Inaugural Tan Swan Beng Chair Professor at Nanyang Technological University, T.-S. Prof. Skibniewski is an author/co-author of over 400 scholarly publications. His latest co-authored book titled Artificial Intelligence in Construction Engineering and Management was published by Springer last year.
